This is good news for Sony Ericsson fans. The new Sony Ericsson Faith cell phone will have a full Qwerty keyboard and touch screen, I actually think this looks pretty good.

I wish they would make an E75 with a touchscreen. I’d buy that in a heartbeat. We need a new form factor, and touchscreen with keyboard capabilities is a good one. I’m not big on those phone designs, but I have to admit this one looks pretty snazzy.

1. Never say "I" on your message, especially if you are a single woman. If you are a single woman and a stalker or potential stalker has targeted you, he will eventually call your home phone number. If he hears a message in your voice saying "Hi, this is Susie. I can't come to the phone right now, but...", he will know instantly that you are indeed single, and in all likelihood living by yourself. Use "we", even if it sounds unworkable at first. "Hi, you've reached the Smith residence. Sorry WE can't come to the phone right now, but..." If you were a stalker, would you feel confident about your chances of finding your victim living alone with a message like that? If you really want assurance, find a willing male voice to record your message for you.

2. You may want to forget leaving a name at all on your message and only repeat your phone number. "Hi, you've reached Debby and Susie's place. Please leave a message..." sounds much more inviting to a stalker or predator than "You've reached 555-5789, please leave a message...". This has the added benefit of reducing the number of wrong numbers, but it does keep personal information out of the equation.

3. Never advertise the fact that you are "out of the house." Always imply that you are temporarily unable to answer the phone, but avoid throwing in the details that would let a burglar know you're on vacation in Florida until Friday. Such information is probably already common knowledge among your closest friends and co-workers, so it's not necessary to share this with everyone who calls. Burglars live for opportunities like this, so don't give them any encouragement with such a personal message.

4. Humorous messages can be great, but don't overdo it. Potential employers may call your number to arrange an interview, so that slightly off-color message you put on your machine to be clever may not be such a good idea. This is not a life-threatening gesture by any means, but keep in mind that your answering machine message is a reflection of yourself. Single women should especially be careful with humorous or suggestive messages, even if clearly intended as a joke. Stalkers and predators are not always rational thinkers, and may be quite literal in their approaches to 'joke' messages. What you think may sound a bit flitatious or light-hearted could come across as an honest invitation to a potential suitor with a troubled mind. It's always a good idea to keep humor to a minimum with answering machines anyway, but especially if you're not sure how your message might sound to those who don't know you.

Its biggest weakness is not-terribly accurate colors and a tendency to underexpose, which can be overcome with some tweaking.

For the best photo quality, the relatively old Canon EOS Rebel XS still delivers, especially in low light, and its kit lens is the best of the group. There is a nice fluid market for both new and after market digital cameras on eBay. Digital Camera usage has grown enormously over the past few years. Technology has reduced the old film and developing almost to the archives. Quality cameras ranging in price from well under $500 to over $2000 are available. Professionals, amateur hobbyists and regular households all seem to be acquiring cameras, often more than one per household. The question becomes how can I acquire a digital camera at the best possible price?

I have tended to specialize on the buying end and trying to identify market opportunities and price in-efficiencies to really capture excellent deals. To do this we need to understand the dynamics of the eBay market place. Like any other market it is supply demand driven, and like a large flee-market if a buyer has knowledge of how many items are for sale at what prices and how many other buyers are in the market, then that buyer can capture the upper hand. Lets focus a little more on supply.

The eBay supply dynamic is a little different in that supply of an item must be seen at a point in time. In other words, because auctions end at different times, one needs to grasp the number of auctions ending in close proximity for the same item. This gives you a feel for the supply of items or in our case cameras. What makes this interesting is that today there could be a large amount of auctions ending for a particular model, but next week there could be very few. This is one element driving the price.

The demand side is slightly more complex and hidden from the average eBay buyer. This is where that the web site I refer to at the bottom has some useful data. Demand in eBay terms is measured (by sellers) as a number of factors - how many people view my auction, how many people ask questions, how many people place me on their watch page, and how many people actually bid. Obviously as we progress down this list the data become more reliable as an indication of demand. Page views are not easy to obtain, although some sellers place a publicly viewable counter on their auction pages. Questions and watchers are available to sellers, and the special web site mentioned below will expose this information. Number of bids is available for all to see.

Now if we happened to produce a graph as the auction progresses of the changes in the number of questions, watchers and bid's one can easily see how the demand is changing as time progresses. Typically if questions are high and watchers are high, but bids are low, this may indicate some confusion and a possible buy opportunity. If watchers are very high and climbing, but bids are low, this can point to a last minute bidding war, and a stay out indicator.

Armed with this information and also a quick summary of other similar auctions ending soon, plus a quick feel for the skill set of the seller and the current highest bidder, once can see a picture very different from the average eBay buyer. Soon the trained eye will observe some nice buying opportunities. For the professional or amateur photographer this will soon bring in a number of digital camera buys that are quite a bit cheaper that retail. For example it is quite possible to find gems at 20-40% of retail prices. Lets face it, most digital camera's perform perfectly years after acquisition. Digital electronics seldom degrade over time, so the aftermarket such as eBay is the idea place to buy camera's cheaply.

On the eve of the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony Ericsson debuted a series of new devices, including the Xperia X1, a high-end Windows Mobile slider phone with a qwerty keyboard and a nine-panel touchscreen interface. The phone is available in GSM, GPRS and EDGE in the 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands. It is available in UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA in the 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1700 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. The phone, which features WiFi connectivity and AGPS capability, will debut in the second half of 2008.

This is the first Sony Ericsson Windows Mobile device--a surprise since Ericsson is a shareholder in Symbian and has launched 10 phones using the Symbian OS platform. At the press conference Sunday night, Sony Ericsson executives tried to downplay the use of Windows Mobile on its Xperia device--however, it caused quite a stir among the media in attendance.

But Xperia X1 isn't the only device Sony Ericsson debuted. The company also announced two new Cybershot phones--the C702 and the C902. The 702 features a 3.2 megapixel camera while the 902 has a 5 megapixel camera and can store up to 700 photos. Apple at Work on Touch-screen PDA

Roughly a decade after terminating production of its Newton personal digital assistant, Apple is reportedly planning a return to the PDA market, putting the finishing touches on a touch-based device in the tradition of the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Citing sources close to the project, AppleInsider reports that the as-yet-unnamed PDA runs an embedded version of Apple's Mac OS X Leopard platform--the device is described as an ultra-thin "slate" resembling the iPhone, but at 1.5 times the size and with an approximate 720x480 high-resolution display that spans virtually the entire surface.

According to AppleInsider, Apple engineers have been at work on a PDA prototype for roughly 18 months, although the project's roots date back even earlier. During an appearance at the 2004 D: All Things Digital conference, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said he was proud of the products his firm has released in recent years, and also proud of the products it decided not to ship--asked by an audience member to elaborate, Jobs replied "An Apple PDA." Sources say the PDA development nevertheless ground to a halt as Apple pulled engineers of the project to meet its self-imposed June 2007 iPhone launch date.

Jobs is expected to officially announce the Apple PDA during his keynote Macworld appearance in January, with retail shipments to follow in mid-2008.
